Cricket Australia set to sell Big Bash stakes

Cricket Australia has announced the opportunity for private investors to buy minority stakes in two of the new franchises which will take part in the Big Bash League which gets under way in December.

Private investors will be able to own a stake in one of the new franchises in Sydney and Melbourne during the next couple months according CA Chief Executive James Sutherland.

"It will be subject to terms and conditions we're satisfied with. We're not going to sell at any cost, but we're going to go to the market over the coming months," said Sutherland.

"We believe it's appropriate to put our toe in the water," he added.

"We have a strong view on value and an understanding on value, and how we may be prepared to go on a sale, but that's really something I'd rather keep to the negotiating table."

Despite making the announcement, CA still has to come to an agreement with the Australian Cricketers' Association as the row over player revenues rumbles on.

"We both need each other. We know we need a positive outcome and resolution. We'd like to have Australian players, state players and BBL players contracted as soon as possible," added Sutherland.
