Royal Challengers Bangalore fast bowler Dale Steyn as left hospital after suffering a blow to the head during the Royal Challengers Twenty20 Champions League semi final against the Chennai Super Kings.

Steyn took a spectacular backwards diving catch to remove Michael Hussey during the 4th over of the game but the South African international landed awkwardly banging his head when he hit the ground.

While his teammates celebrated the fast bowler lay motionless on the ground near the long-off boundary. After receiving treatment on the pitch Steyn, visibly dazed, walked slowly back to the dugout.

The fast bowler was taken to hospital after complaining of lower back and neck pains but was released after a couple of hours observation.

With Steyn unable to continue the Royal Challengers slumped to a 52 run defeat against the Super Kings after conceding 174 runs from just 17 overs in a rain shortened encounter.
