Heavy rain has forced the Twenty20 Champions League semi final between the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore to be delayed.

Play got under way on time at Kingsmead but less then 3 overs were able to be bowled before heavy rain moved across the ground sending players running off the pitch.

If no more play was possible the Super Kings would advance to the Twenty20 Champions League final by virtue of winning Group A thanks to their 10 run victory over the Chevrolet Warriors on Wednesday night.

After a delay of more then two hours play got back underway at 20.18 local time with both sides innings reduced by 3 overs.
